i mean yeah. muybridge’s films were revolutionary and ryan reynolds stars in bad movies. don’t see a problem with saying that
You guys will call this the worst filmography of all time and then praise that video of a horse running from the 1800s like it’s peak cinema.

I mean it was revolutionary. Not good by modern standards but it was one of the first films

The thing is, without these early works, we would still have films... someone else would have come up with the idea. There are so many instances where people come up with almost identical ideas in the same year as each other without ever having met. Sometimes it's even the same month/week/day.

i mean it’s not like his movies don’t inspire modern filmmakers. like, would we even have nope without eadweard muybridge? any thom andersen movie? even if he somehow doesn’t directly inspire modern filmmakers, he inspired the ones who inspired them! you can’t not feel that power and that history watching the horse in motion or the kiss.

oh wait you said it was “not good” by modern standards. i thought you were saying it’s not revolutionary by modern standards. either way, i really strongly disagree with both. i like muybridge’s work a lot.

but it’s thanks to muybridge in particular that we have movies the way they are right now. butterfly effect and all that.
