The issue really isn’t with the white guy, its the fact that all the black characters are so flawed that they compromise the battle they are fighting for. If you’re gonna make a movie about revolutionaries against the government and make a white man the hero and the black women the flawed characters then it directly contradicts the history its trying to highlight. Its just stupid

almost everyone in the movie is flawed. even Willa, who is otherwise very heroic and determined, fucks everyone over by hiding that cell phone. that's why it's a good and interesting movie. actually, thinking about it now, Sensei has a sort of divine grace and is extremely competent, which makes him stand out from everyone else. he's not white btw

But like… context? Bob is portrayed as equally as flawed as the black characters in the story. Yes the black characters in the story are flawed (except Deandre who is conveniently left out whenever these conversations happen) basically everyone is flawed in OBAA. Would you rather Willa and Perfidia were one-dimensional perfect beacons of justice? That’s not real life

The issue isn’t that they’re flawed its that they are sexualized and fetishized and undermine the entire objective. And one character not being portrayed this way doesn’t make it fine. And bob is not equally flawed hes just stupid they made the black people like murder and rob innocent people and fuck everything up.

And sensei having a “divine grace” doesn’t mean anything we’re talking about black people not a white passing puerto rican

Perfidia is fetishized BY LOCKJAW. How are we still missing the point. It is a commentary on how white men in positions of power exploit and fetishize women of color. How they crave power over them. It’s an indictment of their hypocrisy

Except they made the most likable character the rapist. Let’s minimize his actions through comedic relief

My guy the man is constantly high and drunk and can’t remember the one password that’ll get him to his daughter. Like he’s also highly flawed and not the hero 💀

I love how we’re just gonna erase someone’s identity bc it doesn’t fit your narrative

Bruh i dont even like the movie let alone lovkjack. Im saying hes the comedic relief. Grow up im not minimizing his ethnicity im just saying hes not relevant to the argument. And forgetting a password is far different than murder. Ur straight coping cus ur the white savior

He’s not comedic relief at all he’s actually very disgusting You literally did Forgetting a password is definitely not equal to murder, but this man spent every day high and drunk out of his mind and couldn’t really raise his daughter and at the time she really needed him he couldn’t show up. He’s not a white savior and he is flawed. It’s honestly cope to say he isn’t flawed.
