Everyone is misunderstanding your post. Award shows don’t matter in general. They have 0 objective measurement on what their pick for best is. It is extremely biased, self serving, and just doesn’t matter in general. It is no more or less objectionable than a random twitter poll on what the best movie was this year. So who cares if there is more categories on this fake voting club anyways?

That’s not what I’m saying at all lol. I think the Oscars absolutely matter for the most part. Objective measurement? Certainly not, but the Oscar-winning films will creep their way into the mainstream and stand the tests of time for a lot of normies. That is precisely why I don’t see the need for shit like best short or documentary besides those kinds of media just don’t get attention in general. Just seems like a bunch of nothing burger categories
