i think it’s pretty sad how many people watch like mostly kids movies/shows or just digestible media that doesn’t take a lot of thought to digest. it’s not my business of course, but i think everyone owes it to themselves to take in challenging art at least on a semi-regular basis. a lot of my old friends from high school have a very limited perception of the medium because 90% of the movies they’ve seen are digestible disney/netflix stuff made to pass the time.

not to say there aren’t great kids movies or great movies that are mostly just really entertaining, but it gets to a point. pixar’s made some great movies, but they should never be an adult’s idea of the height of emotional storytelling. i feel kinda dumb typing all this out now because you probably don’t really disagree, but i just wanted to make it distinguish mindlessly commenting “grow up” or “watch more movies” and being concerned with how people perceive art because of their limited pallet
