ngl noir/crime is my fave genre but i genuinely couldn't stand LA Confidential, it felt like a mish-mash of every hardboiled/noir cliche mashed together. i'll have to give it another look, perhaps i was too harsh.

I actually agree with you but I also admittedly haven’t seen a lot of crime noir so I’m not as affected by it being cliche. If that makes any sense

Yeah that does. Don't get me wrong the performances and production are great, loved the period costumes. I think as you watch more noir stuff you'll better understand the tropes of the genre.
