It’s about the format not the aspect ratio. It’s the picture quality that comes from the big ass stock. You’d get a massively shitter experience seeing the movie in the full aspect ratio on a normal theater or imax screen rather than having it cropped. Almost purely useless space is there anyway it just looks awesome when you’re in one of those rare true IMAX theaters

And this isn’t taking over movies, Nolan and a select few are probably the only ones who will ever reach the milestone of a full imax shot film. It’s like an artist who goes on tour that you might not have the privilege to see. A great way to experience the music but it doesn’t change the music itself
