This is why I stopped listening to most superhero movie critics. 90% of it is claiming “wokeness” over something or someone that’s been around for decades

Tbf making Hal Jordan an old man lowk pisses me off. They did the same shit with Hank Pym in the MCU and that pissed me off too.

He’s actually fairly old in the comics, just a lot of media outside of it makes him younger

He’s like in his early 40s, or about the same age as Superman and Batman are supposed to be. He also presumably wouldn’t be as adversely affected by aging since, yk, power ring.

That’s not how the power ring works, it only can do as much as the wielder can imagine. When Guy Garner got ripped in half in DC vs. Vampires, he had to learn how internal organs worked to keep himself alive. The only time the ring has been used for age was when a 13yo Lantern named Arisia aged herself up to 18 to sleep with Hal, but most people don’t consider that storyline canon because it was written by a convicted pedo.

When I say “it can do as much as the wielder can imagine” I mean it’s limited to those green constructs, flight, and the ability to be in space without issue.

True, I keep forgetting that most of Hal’s shenanigans come from external stuff (Parallax, Spectre, that one time he became the embodiment of willpower or whatever) rather than specifically the ring itself.

Idk, if there was any character who could literally just will themselves not to age it’d be Hal.

True, but immortality sucks when a majority of your friends and loved ones are mortal so I don’t think he would see it as an appealing option
