Anyone else tired of the overly sterile appearance of modern movies? Oversaturated colors, extremely photogenic actors even in scenes where it makes no sense, fake backgrounds and overreliance on CGI even in movies where it doesn’t need to be?

I miss the grit of 80s and 90s movies. I also miss how the plot could be dead simple and without agenda. I even miss creative product placement - like pizza hut in Back to The Future. Fucking hate modern product placement. It's never subtle and turns the whole movie into a car ad. Looking at you acura in avengers / Thor.

I agree with the rest of the claim but oversaturation has been present in movies since it spiked in the 70s

Idk why you’re getting hate for pointing it out too. Netflix lighting is a problem and it DOES have everything to do with attention span and effort put into production.

Literally every popular movie since like the mid-2010s. Compare scenes from, for example, the new Jurassic Park movies to the old ones. No grime or dirt on any of their faces, all the lead characters are all like 8/10s minimum and everything has a glossy, fake sheen to it.

It’s funny I happen to think everything looks DE-saturated now, like just bleh. Very crummy looking. Everything has a filmy lukewarm texture. Like a broth left marinating at room temperature in a public laundry room.
