If this is a backrooms vaguepost, the mental health issues of both characters is important in giving them believable motivations for exploring the Scary Ass Evil Maze of Doom. Which creates more compelling characters and a more interesting stories. Idk why some horror fans are so allergic to having characters with internal conflict
