I think it was also cause me and many others were expecting the movie to be a lot more about the actual vampires but the movie was more about music and culture

Was very unconventional for the time in terms of pacing and content. Like Marvin randomly getting shot in the face. Butch and Wallace held captive in a sex dungeon. Mia overdosing on heroin, Vincent getting killed. The movie keeps pulling the rug out from underneath the audiences feet in more shocking ways
