I don’t think PHM is quite as good as people say, but “most overhyped movie of the last decade” is hella hyperbolic when Nope, Mickey 17, Conclave, Get Out, Anyone but You, Puss in Boots 2, Boy and the Heron, Asteroid City, Uncut Gems, and Wonka exist.
I genuinely think project Hail Mary is the most overhyped movie of the last decade. It’s not a bad movie at all it’s genuinely a good movie but it’s really just good not great I don’t get the hype I’m gonna completely forget about it after this year

How is Mickey 17 overhyped when it bombed and nobody talks about it?

Haven’t seen all of these but literally every film I’ve seen on here doesn’t deserve hate. How tf you gonna trash talk nope, get out, puss in boots 2, boy and the heron, and asteroid city. Was asteroid city my favorite film? No. But was it good? Yeah. Not to mention nope and boy and the heron were amazing.

Story/plot is the most important part of any movie and Puss in Boots the Last Wish has a good, not great, one. The visuals are the real standout of the movie and they try to make the story seem better then it really is. It’s an 8/10 at best.

Hahahaha no. And it was a nice homage and callback to all of his previous films. Always easy to tell what the problem is with ppl who think a movie is “boring”

it’s also a reference to the 1937 novel that the main character is gifted in the film, titled “How Do You Live?” by Genzaburō Yoshino. I believe this novel is actually still assigned reading to all 13-year-old students in Japan today.

What is that supposed to mean?

Miyazaki has a lot of lengthy “boring” ones and he has a lot of goofy or typically palatable films. Unfortunately I get it though — I feel like his last one is for the people who really dig deep into his work like he does.

tbh i’m just autistic and Studio Ghibli is particularly my special interest 🥲😂 but it’s also international so like i can’t knock anybody for not being as into it, regardless of their accolades.
