honestly, Miyazaki is unmatched when it comes to representing young women and girls as strong independent heroines and characters with depth and personhood… the entire Ghibli cinematic universe is scarcely bested by any other animation studio, and it’s wild to think majority of it came from the mind of one man.

Spirited away is one of the movies that I’ll rewatch 10 times instead of picking something new. I’ll never get tired of the amazing story telling and the beautiful animations. Even if you don’t like animated movies you should watch at least one studio ghibli movie before you die cuz they are just that good 👌

My neighbor Totoro and Kiki's delivery service are really good and heartwarming

Howl’s Moving Castle is also very good. It’s probably my favorite ghibli movie with Ponyo at #2 and Spirited Away at #3. Princess Mononoke is good if you like dark/violent movies. My Neighbor Totoro is good if you want a calming movie. Porco Rosso is good too but less talked about.
