“trying to defend physical media” like psychical media is a bad thing 😭
The people on here trying to defend physical media is outright crazy. “Oh no I have a forum with hundreds of free movies that I can download and watch anytime”. If you’re into collecting I get it but people are out here defending these companies is crazy

I never claimed physical media was a bad thing, I said the people trying to defend me as crazy. I mentioned pirating and basically had 3 Reddit mods spam me with bullshit like “you’re not contributing to the cinema industry🤓” or “I can watch my movies any time and you can only stream”. It was them defending a point that was never there to begin with.

I mean that’s what they’re trying to do. It was never about me going against physical media but that’s how they took it and began arguing about it.

Depends on the movie. Generally I don’t watch the big company movies such as marvel. I’ll take my sister to watch SpongeBob, mario, Minecraft, etc. I’ve also gone for a few more obscure films I was looking forward to like “the revenant” but most of the time I’ll wait a week or two and download it.

I agree wholeheartedly with the actual intended sentiment behind your post, I really do think the first sentence could’ve been phrased better though no disrespect, but it comes across like you’re taking a jab at people Because they’re defending physical media, not just because they’re suffering from cop-brain re: conversations around archival and “piracy” etc

I agree it can come off a bit strong. I was emphasizing because people were getting very defensive over points that were very menial. If you want to collect and preserve physical media I completely get it and there’s nothing wrong with it. There was a lot of debate because I don’t “contribute” and they also was claiming that physical media is better because I have to stream it which is incorrect. I pirate because I don’t think it’s practical to pickup a subscription for some obscure movie.

yeah, I hadn’t seen any prior discourse in this community cause I’m new here, so I was like “hold up, why would you be *anti*-physical media???” before I figured out what you meant / had been reacting to (tbc though I don’t doubt for a second that the anti-piracy points being raised were flimsy and highly irritating)

They were, i originally commented on a post of a guy buying a stack of cd’s and I just said that if you’re into collecting it’s a good haul but if you’re about watching movies there’s easier means. Everyone took it as I was completely anti physical media and they were making some points ignorantly. Some kid was trying to tell me I’m a new gen who couldn’t appreciate it while I could wager money he wasn’t buying vhs tapes and sega genisis cartridges in his childhood.
