
It’s a 68/100 from the congregate reviews on metacritic so yeah it’s definitely not like amazing but rotten tomatoes skews things a bit since it’s not a score but a representation of the percentage of positive reviews which like means a positive percentage can mean anything from just barely above mediocre to the best thing ever made to the critics but doesn’t take the nuance of it into account
yeah, it’s a better metric for consistency than anything else. it won’t tell you HOW good a movie is, but it’ll tell you if most people liked it or most people disliked it. i’m sure that it also kinda depends on the target audience. like everyone who’s going to see it KNOWS it’s the spongebob movie, so they’re probably willing to give it a 5 or 6 even if it’s generally a “below average” movie
