I just want them to be authentic and do the story line where they justify slavery.

I remember watching the movies and the ONE thing I really wanted them to add from the book was in snapes memories after Dumbledore asks Snape if he cares for Harry, snape yells “For him?” before doing the patronus charm which I think just adds so much

“No you don’t understand they actually really like being slaves so long as you don’t beat them too much!” -JK “states rights to do what?” Rowling

Yeah the movies really downplay how disgusting Snape is. The movie never mentions that Snape initially asked Voldemort to just spare Lilly without regard for her infant son - nor that he lost any chance of a relationship with Lilly because he called her The wizard slur and joined a hate group because he was bullied in school. They also barely touch on the fact that Snape actually straight up bullies children, Neville feared Snape more than the death eaters that took his parents from him.

What’s really funny is that the Republican Party broadly speaking was the states rights party prior to the Civil War (the Dredd Scott decision, Lecompton Constitution scandal, etc. made them firmly anti-federal government). The federal government and most federal law actually supported slavery in 1860 and 1861 when Lincoln took office, but they were so scared that the Republicans would swing back they seceded first.
