It could be ironic enjoyment, I have a few widely panned movies I’ve given high scores because they’re funny-bad

I gotta respect the commitment of watching almost every single Harry Potter movie despite very clearly hating the Harry Potter movies

I do stuff like that too, but enjoying Madame Webb more then La La Land and Back to the Future, even just ironically is crazy

I think it might also be how they’re basing their scores like I thought lala land was really good just amazing story and visually gorgeous but ima be real I was so bored bc it’s just not my type of movie so if I was rating it as how good is this movie it’s like a 4-5 but how much I liked it would probably at most a 1 1/2

They’re both subjective forms of rating but on different metrics

true. our “objective” views on art are usually just subjective interpretations of objectivity. “we’re being subjective, even when we don’t realize it” -jonathan rosenbaum

Usually I just put my rating and then a heart if I have an experience like that
