According to Lookout Archie Jewell, the lifeboat drills were cancelled owing to inclement weather and the fact that they had already done drills in Southhampton. As for driving the ship at high speed, that was because that was standard practice for Ocean Liners at the time, and was moreso a fault of the Liner industry as a whole rather than this specific Captain.

The weather was fine. Smith just wanted to murder people. Bandwagon fallacy on the speed. Stanley Lord was 10 miles away with the Californian. Did he sail his ship at full speed through the same ice field? No, he stopped it because he isn’t fucking Hitler like Smith was.

You’re literally citing an accomplice to murder. In any case, several days into a voyage is far too late to begin drilling to use lifeboats (the land drills were obviously worthless considering how unprepared the crew was). An accomplice to murder? At this point I’m genuinely questioning whether this is ragebait or not, no, the 23 year old lookout who wasn’t even on duty at the time they struck the iceberg wasn’t an ‘accomplice to murder’. It’s not bandwagoning because again, this was standard practice. Literally every Captain (save for Shackleton) questioned as part of the inquiry said they would have done the same thing as Smith. It is absurd to claim he’s comparable to a man who willfully exterminated millions.

To phrase it another way, you seem to be making the argument that either he was willfully trying to murder as many people as possible (for which there is literally no evidence) or that he was negligent/reckless. Except he wasn’t negligent because negligence requires one to act in a way contrary to how a reasonable person would.
