i mean yeah, it’s my personal top 20. i don’t think it’s an objective list of the american essentials, mainly because there’s no such thing. it’s my own personal canon, hence why it’s “essential” to me. i’d love to hear what you think i missed, given you haven’t heard of half the movies on my list lol.

Let me specify i've heard of them but never decided to watch. Only ones i've never heard of are do the right thing and 25. Id say 1917, Baraka, Snatch, Schindlers List, Saving Private Ryan. At least just off the top of my head if you replaced robocop, rocky, it's a wonderful life, nashville, and the right stuff what some of that it'd be better IMO.

the movie is called 25th hour! funny enough, it’s from the same director as do the right thing. anyway, it seems you and i just have very different tastes; the only movies you mentioned that i like are bakara and schindler’s list.
