I feel like we’ve lost the art of the movie about normal people. Everything in theatres is either action, horror, or a biopic and I just want a romcom or drama about interesting characters with relatively normal lives. Ofc film is an escape

i would highly recommend the movies of charles roxburgh and hong sang-soo. two of my favorite working directors right now, and they both capture the art of mundane life beautifully.

Literally just saw Twinless a few hours ago and the Threesome a few months back, there are still movies made about normal people, it’s just they don’t get as much hype

… but I miss movies that didn’t rely on being a spectacle. Ofc every genre has a place in film, but it just feels like we don’t get characters with normal lives anymore.

true but i think they’re mostly just talking about hollywood (i.e. “everything in theaters”) this is why we need legitimate independent cinema on everyone’s radar.

Yeah I was mainly talking about what is in theatres/ what gets the most attention. Ofc I’ve seen other films but I’m talking overall/ what’s being promoted
