The fireworks at the end of F1 make me irrationally upset and it was just Top Gun Maverick again so I hope it doesn't make it as a wildcard

I get that, however it played very well to an audience, has a high ceiling for tech nominations, made a LOT of money, and made the PGA ten. I’d call it unlikely, but wouldn’t be surprised to see it on nomination morning.

It’ll get into VFX if that helps, but 2025 was an extremely crowded year to the point that Best Director is a nightmare to predict. If Superman had made a billion and been as widely loved as Black Panther then I’d say maybe.
