can’t say i see the issue there. even if i thought the sex was only in there for lewd/perverted purposes, twenty minutes should be more than enough time to shake any feelings toward the scene off. either way, that scene has it’s purpose. world war ii was an indescribably stressful thing to be involved in and it was very common for soldiers to meet with women and have sex to unwind. sex can also alter the dynamic between two people; you can learn so much about your partner and yourself in that
intimate state. you’ll find yourself confessing certain sexual fantasies or admitting certain feelings towards your partner, etc. i’m tired of people seeing sex in film/television and jumping to the conclusion that it’s just there for pornographic reasons. i think those reactions say more about how people view sex and/or how they think of art merely as content that shouldn’t challenge them and only be presented to make them comfortable.
While normally I agree, and there definitely is a room for sex in media as a form of artistic expression, you have to remember that this is HBO we’re talking about. Even if it’s not ‘pornographic’ (it basically is), it’s designed to be eye-catching and stimulating, rather than actually have any relevance to the plot; there’s a reason it happens and literally is never discussed again. This isn’t sex in the first Terminator movie, it’s every bouncey-titty sex scene from GoT…
not saying your point isn’t valid by any means, but my grandfather was a holocaust survivor (he was living with me and my mom these last few years until he died in november) and the horrors of the holocaust are always on my mind. it plays a colossal role in my family, and i really do not care how the sex in band of brothers is presented. not only do i not find it distasteful, but i think it’s a cool creative choice too. i’m sorry it seems to be such a big issue with the show for you; i hate when
