who gives a fuck? christopher nolan is a pretty conservative guy, so even you guys should know better than to think this is some kind of woke/dei casting. nyong’o is a great actor, and if nolan sees a vision for her, i say let him bring it to action.

It’s cringe to put one of the most famous stories ever written on screen and then completely disregard the source material. He’s doing it with the costumes and the cast

again, nolan is an artist. i’m not even a big fan of his work, (aside from oppenheimer and memento) but i think he should be allowed to make this movie exactly how he wants to. tarkovsky’s cinematographer has an adaptation that’s loyal to the source material if that’s all you really want.

Very rarely do directors completely disregard the source material or historical context and make a good film. I’ll give the movie a fair shot, but it’s not a maga perspective to want a faithful adaptation of one of history’s most well known stories

just about all the best stephen king adaptations make some pretty major changes, (the shining and christine in particular completely changing the entities that drives their respective stories) the godfather movies barely follow along with mario puzo’s novel, nolan made his best movie by very loosely basing it on american prometheus and taking as much of his own creative liberty as he could, it certainly wasn’t for everyone but i really liked highest 2 lowest, i could keep going! i’m not even

sure how much i’ll like the odyssey, but i respect when an artist defies these kinds of boundaries for a movie. if it’s good enough for him, i’ll be glad he made it. i like seeing how the man’s brain works.

Anyone who remotely fits the description in the illiad and has southern European facial features

Everything I’m looking up about her physical descriptions puts the emphasis on timeless beauty. That could be someone with southern European features, but that could also easily be a black woman like nyong’o. Was she most often described as southern European? Yes. But again the point is mainly her beauty. Everyone knows this is a Greek story and it’s fiction, there’s no need for it to perfectly match Greek society at the time

Yeah she just needs to be beautiful enough to kill your “enemies” and risk the lives of your allies for. I remember someone hit a dude w a car because of his girlfriend or X she was kind of cute but I’m not going to jail lol that being said if someone went to war for her 🤷‍♂️ i get it
