definitely one of my favorite shows ever, and it’s even more impressive because it came out pre-Sopranos, so the idea of “Good TV” as we know it today didn’t exist yet and possibly still wouldn’t exist without Twin Peaks

I wouldn’t say scary as much as I’d say unsettling. It’s not gonna make you scream or jump out of your skin or anything, but at times you’ll definitely feel uneasy in your seat watching it. Worth noting though, if you do watch it, that the prequel movie (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me) is quite a bit darker, and I would call that film actually scary. But you shouldn’t watch that unless you’ve seen the TV show anyways, it spoils the main plot.

Unnerving, not scary If you want to watch Twin Peaks, it goes S1 -> S2 -> Fire Walk With Me (prequel film that’s also a sequel in ways. it makes sense when you see it) -> S3

I’d say FWWM and S3/The Return are actually pretty dark and scary at times, because Lynch had full creative control over those and no more guidelines of a major TV network. But the original run of seasons 1 & 2, absolutely unnerving, not so scary. I think it’s funny they mentioned supernatural elements though because I think the show might just be scarier/even more unnerving WITHOUT the supernatural elements lmao

Scary I feel isn’t the right word but I can see where you’re coming from. For me it’s always been more unnerving than scary. Like Lynch knows how to get under your skin
