Why are Latinos still Catholic? I’m Mormon and being sent to a Mexico for missionary work and I wanted to hear on it

Why would we be Mormon? Yall be praising a book written by Joseph smith which in some sections literally contradicts the REAL Bible. There is a rise in other Protestant denominations in Latin America but just like Catholics the read and use the ACTUAL Bible

Well it primarily has to do with colonization where everyone was forced to convert. Then the institution of Catholicism just stayed as the primary buildings and infrastructure are for that. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other religions, but since the country wasn’t built on Freedom of Religion, it is primarily Catholic. Not that there isn’t freedom of religion, but due to historical events it ended up being mainly Catholic

If ur curious I mean, it’s like asking you why are you mormon? 😭 For the love of Jesus ofc. And they think the best way to act on that love is through Catholicism.

I guarantee you, if you ask someone in Latin America today why they’re catholic not a single one would say colonialism 😭 that was like 500+ years ago.
