I don’t wanna discriminate against some ppl but I cringe so much when Americans of Hispanic descent throw a random Spanish word in every sentence like saying “I’ll visit my abuela” sounds like they’re characters from Coco no actual Latino speaks like this

Kinda get where ur coming from with this. What if someone pronounces it the right way. Like if I’m ordering food and I want pico de gallo, like I’m not going to say it like an American ima say it in my Spanish voice

If I’m speaking Spanish, I just call her my grandma if I’m speaking with primarily English speakers.

Can you tell me why whenever I do this (ESPECIALLY when the waiter is already speaking Spanish with other people in the same table) they either just respond in English or make me repeat myself that I just give up say it in English? Like this happens most every restaurant that i go to where the waiter is speaking Spanish with family members. But i have no problem conversing with native speakers.

i feel like it’s similar to when country ppl say theyre gonna go visit their gamgam and peepaw or whatever. it’s just what they call them.
