Don’t quote me on this but the religion was condemned for a while, but they didn’t really have a choice. Honestly, a lot of Latino catholic practices are slightly different. I wouldn’t surprised if some of them had indigenous practices mixed or hidden into them. Literally the picture of mother Mary is an example of this. If you compare it to others, her dress, image, and a few others things are different.

I honestly think it docent matter as long as you believe in god I think it’s all the same as a kid I was very conflicted and actually went from one church to another and to me it’s basically the same honestly

So you prefer child sacrifice like the natives did? 😭✌️ Religion is a big part of Latin America and they’ll slap you if you go over there talkin bout some “this is all colonialism guys you shouldn’t believe in Jesus”.

true but language is about communication and survival. religion involves belief and power, which is why it feels different.

yes i agree i also think it’s too ingrained into our culture so it would be hard to completely separate from catholicism

reducing indigenous culture to “human sacrifice” while ignoring the violence of the colonizers is exactly the kind of thinking that justified colonizing us in the first place. ✌️acting like europeans haven’t committed bigger atrocities such as the holocaust is wild.
