My depression has gotten so bad that I feel a genuine sense of fear that I will end up killing myself. I want to live but my mind feels like it’s dying and like it will take me along with it

I know you hear this a lot but it really does get better significantly as you age if you take care of yourself or at least seek help when you need it. It’s never 100% better but significantly yes. The feeling may come and go but the impact lessens when you realize this is it. This your life and you’re in control even if it’s hard or not what you expected but it will be okay

I understand what you mean. I have a huge fear of death and would never do that to myself but somehow that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it often and every so often wishing I weren’t so afraid. But one thing I always remind myself is it’s better to live, because we all die anyway, so why not let it come naturally? And if we choose live then we have the chance to potentially help someone else live.

I think that we give our lives purpose and I think one of those purposes should be helping others live. Plus you don’t really know what happens when you die. That’s the one thing no one can answer. For me the not knowing is another thing that keeps me alive because I like to have some idea of the outcome.
