I have existential/suicidal ocd and every day it’s a terrifying battle with my thoughts. Everyone says to just let them be, but how could I ever accept these horrific thoughts? What if they become my own?

No it’s ok!! So everyone gets intrusive thoughts right? And they’re ego-dystonic which means it doesn’t align with your morals and values. Most people can have these and go about their day, but people with OCD get stuck on these thoughts and can spend hours obsessing and compulsing to “disprove” or get rid of the thought even though it’s counterproductive. I happen to get thoughts each day like “what if I am suicidal” when that is the last thing I want to do and it brings me so much anxiety.
