is there such a thing as too much therapy? i haven’t done it for the last couple months and feel so much better than when i’m thinking abt myself all the time but i also still sometimes have really bad days

I’d say yes. I am enrolled in 10 hours of therapy a week, and it just gets to a point where having to give up my free time so much to do therapy is more mentally taxing than simply coping on my own. It worked for a while before hitting a ceiling. Once you have learned the skills and found some peace, it feels more like a chore than an aid (at least for me)

Yea sometimes rumination is unhealthy. For me I’m in it bc I’m actively processing a recent traumatic event. But once you’ve gotten to be a little more emotionally regulated on most days, sometimes it’s a good idea to decrease the frequency of sessions

I’m on a once per week cadence rn but soon I’ll switch to twice a month or once a month

that makes sense, i had a mildly traumatic event abt this time last year so i did once a week until this summer, but idk if i need to keep doing it that often when i get back to school. i still have a lot of behaviors & thought patterns id like to fix but idk how much of that fixing should be in therapy vs just regular life yknow

like i feel like when i was in therapy i was just thinking SO much about everything constantly analyzing my emotions and reactions to everything and it was just exhausting but idk if that’s just me
