Not to minimize loss, but losing my custodial parent I loved and depended on more than anyone else probably hurt more than the grandparent you saw 3x a year.

Why are we even comparing the loss? That in itself minimizes it. So stop that. As for the other person who said what they said, fuck them. Don’t listen and you grieve for your loss as you need to. There’s no reason to tell anyone who does not have the need to know. But, I am sorry for your loss.
