I’ve become more self aware of the fact that when I’m talking to people about stuff like literally anything, no one seems to actually care or be listening and I’m constantly being spoken over, cut off, ignored, or “yeah” “uh-huh” “mmhmm”

It just makes me not want to talk to anyone about anything. It makes me feel like no one gives a shit. It makes me feel like no one fucking cares what I have to say or think about. I just want to be heard.

Getting the subject changes etc. I’m tired of being the person who always listens and never the person who people will listen to. It’s everyone too, my family, my friends, my coworkers, my boyfriend.

The sad truth is people will only listen if something is of interest to them. Learning to talk to your specific audience is a good skill to train. Every individual will have different interests But the good part is if you can figure out how to tailor conversation to specific people, communication will get a LOT easier and less one sided. I had to research this for a final paper and it has been one of the most useful skills I’ve learned throughout college
