i need to be blunt: some of you guys have got to start scheduling therapy appointments instead of meeting new people and immediately dumping every single part of your very real and very impactful trauma on them as soon as you form a Single bond

I agree with this, in all loving sense ā¤ļø It’s honestly all about the shame of being seen… Friends, there’s no shame! YOU ARE WORTH LIVING FREELY 🫶🫶🫶 It’s gonna be hard work, there are gonna be times where you feel like giving up.. but it’s worth it. You’re worth it.

it’s so fun when you like, try? but the person who’s doing it is your coworker that’s assigned to the same department as you and you’re frequently required to work with - and so they know there’s no way to ENFORCE the boundaries. I can say ā€œI’m not a licensed therapist, I do not have the training required to help you with trauma this severeā€ and walk away from the situation all I want - UNTIL my boss assigns the next two person task. Then I gotta go back.

(And then they’ll hit me with the ā€œI’m not asking for help, I’m just ventingā€ and keep going.)

ā€œI prefer if you don’t vent to me, please. I’m not equipped to process it at this point in my life.ā€ ā¤ļø

You don’t get to ā€œI am not a licensed therapistā€ and literally walking out of the conversation without trying that first, #2. Many times.

You are making a lot of assumptions that I haven’t tried a LOT of strategies over the past - again - two continuous months.

Small business ain’t got an HR department. It’s the same boss who sends me to work with them one on one.

this is a real problem that people do and it’s exhausting. you shouldn’t need to set boundaries about this; people should not do it in the first place

In my experience it’s actually mostly been a cost thing. Since, y’know, mental health isn’t covered by health insurance for some insane reason, and not even everyone has THAT But like. If your trauma is the ONLY thing on your mind. Twenty four hours a day. Just WAITING for a safe space to unload it all. for YEARS? Hate to say it - it’s prolly worth paying out of pocket.

It’s a worthy investment for yourself! But also…. INSURANCE SHOULD COVER IT
