y’all… is it normal for a father to say he’s relieved when his very young daughter comes out as gay, because he “doesn’t wanna share her with any other men”? or to frequently take that daughter on vacation trips without her mom, while still married?

No it’s not normal. It’s overly familiar and tries to blur the boundaries of how much control a father should have over his daughters life

This is all just very off-putting and concerning. I’d really be careful and reach out to someone irl. A friend maybe or close family you feel you can trust? Idk just definitely be concerned

is it normal to try to bond with her over “talking about girls”? or to encourage his very young daughter to give him shoulder rubs at the dinner table?

thank you for confirming as much, seriously. fortunately I’ve already done the work of distancing myself from my parents as much as I can get away with for the time being, because they’re toxic in other ways too. it’s just that I’ve had a hard time determining for sure whether or not early childhood sexual abuse was involved too, so I wanted a second perspective on whether this stuff sounds like warning signs to other people

Wait, if you’re ok answering, how old are you currently? Asking out of concern for what resources you could potentially reach out to and how much you are able to distance yourself from them

I’m 27, I have a place of my own (well, a shared rental at least) and everything—I went no-contact for a couple years, but that was cut short because thanks to physical disability I can’t hold a job and still partially depend on them for financial support :/

What type of physical disability?

before I disclose that here, mind if I ask why you’re asking?
