How would you respond if you saw someone who had self-h*rm scars on their body? I’m asking because it’s too hot to keep on wearing long sleeves.

I would mind my own business but not everyone is normal like that unfortunately

maybe i glance, because sometimes it’s noticeable, but it’s okay to be noticeable. then go about my day. choose comfort, friend. the thoughts and feelings of society change nothing 🩷

I’d hope they’re ok and make sure to be especially kind to them without being blatant about it

I had a coworker who had scars on her arms , I didn’t say anything. It is intrusive and fake to be like “are you ok?” Obviously not . I just made quiet eye contact with her and the scars to signal I saw her . I think that’s all that is necessary. What else is there to actually do without being intrusive?

I’d hug the person

As someone who also has scars, I sometimes end up noticing them too much. But I won’t say anything or act differently. Unless it was a friend or family, then I might express concern and/or support for them

I’d offer an activity for us to do and reference a local community mental health organization and support them through their journey!
