I recently started getting panic attacks. I don’t know what to do to regulate my nervous system because I’ve never had this bad physical anxiety. Has anyone gone through this and what helped? Should I stop drinking on weekends?

I’d definitely stop drinking while you’re going through panic attacks. I’d definitely find something to ground you or brings comfort. I have a childhood blanket that I can feel to calm down a bit. Idk if this is an everyone thing, but I like to be completely alone when I go through them cause people worrying over me tends to just overwhelm me more (probably cause I had bad experiences panicking around my mom) calming music can also tend to help if you’re able. I hope some of this helps!

The main thing that helps me is remembering that I always have control over myself. That doesn’t mean exerting that control is easy, but you alway have control. First thing I do is control my breathing. Slow, steady breaths. Next, my arms and legs. I relax them as much as I can. That doesn’t make you process what’s making you anxious, but if you can relax in that way it certainly makes it a lot easier to process
