An islander got removed for a video of her saying the n word, and in the past islanders have been removed for saying slurs as well. U stated that LI needs to stop “catering” to viewers and just accept that they’ll lose viewership, which means that ur saying that they should keep them on anyways, dismissing the racism just for viewers sake

Nobody asked anyone to dismiss the racism. That’s my fucking point. Love Island will ALWAYS cast problematic islanders. Whether intentionally or because they didn’t do their research. So stop supporting them. Stop watching. Boycott LI. Them catering to the demands of the audience allows the cycle to continue. This will happen again, and again, and again. So, stop watching!

Catering to the viewers is them acting like they give af by removing the contestants. If you think they genuinely do care about the fact they cast racists… idk what to tell you. LI is a problematic show, who has quite literally always casted problematic people. Including our beloved Season 6. If you can’t enjoy the show as it is, you don’t enjoy the show, period. Stop giving them your viewership and publicly playing purity politics while privately allowing the real issue to profit. Easy!

There’s a difference between being problematic and being racist babes, problematic makes the show interesting but keeping a racist does nothing good for their viewership. So idc if they really care or not, I and others simply just don’t want a racist on our screens. So as long as they’re gone I’m happy. Not at all, I don’t think you understand how publicity and business is the FOUNDATION of reality tv shows. In some cases yes, public opinion wouldn’t determine to whether or not racism and political beliefs would affect someone’s casting to a movie/tv show. But speaking in terms of THIS show, public opinion is implemented DIRECTLY, especially with voting playing a major part. They were bound to be kicked off for public opinion at some point whether it was by casting directors or viewers.

The public that is watching this show is going to get the show cancelled soon. The level of exposure it currently has is going to end someone’s life, and they know that. They didn’t remove Vasana because they care about racism. They removed her to protect her from further backlash. I can GUARANTEE that btw, because it’s what producers said they did with Cierra last year. Notice how they quite literally never make statements after kicking off the contestants? They don’t care.

I can agree with what you’re saying totally, whether or not they do care or not still caters to what the majority wants. And if anything i think removing Vasanna was a smart move, like I said it’s about publicity and business and she would have never had a fair shot at winning because she would be up for vote at any chance given. You shouldn’t be applying for reality tv show if you know you have a hateful past or ideology.

Also, you have to understand (and it’s important to understand) that the dynamics of this show are different from literally every reality tv show, in the sense that viewers RUN the show, they run who leaves, they vote couples, etc. I don’t think making statements would be necessary because they would be telling viewers what they already know. They are aware that the viewers know what she did, the viewers are the ones that CAME forward with the proof.
