I might be reading too much into this joke but it’s important to me that you know this isn’t true, homosexuality is not banned or looked down upon by *every* religion.

Counterpoint: who said it was exclusively for being queer?

only like 2 religions have a hell anyway and one of those didn't have a hell until they needed it as a pawn to try to mass-convert people

many denominations of Christianity are extremely welcoming and accepting of queer identities, and that’s the religion that most consider to be the homophobic one. so yeah, lots of people use it as an excuse to be a bigot, and lots of people don’t

Also hinduism is accepting

Like, for one, if a culture has a generally accepted 3rd gender, their religion almost definitely does not follow cisheteronormative norms

Exactly!!! Not even all the abrahamic religions have a hell. Like I can’t prove it but I have a big suspicion that the person who made this post is specifically talking about Christianity

We’re in the lgbtqia+ community but also there’s not really much you could say that would be true here

None of those are banned/looked down upon in *every* religion like not even close Not every religion even has a dichotomy of good and bad or like an inherent heirarchy Like some religions (many animistic religions) believe in an inherent equality among all beings and sometimes even inanimate things Like discrimination is not an inherent part of religion and it’s very important to me that you know this

It’s very inherently present in christianity, though.

You’re so very right, there is very much so a hierarchy within Christianity and a dichotomy of good and bad and that is used to discriminate against many people including everyone who you listed. My issue is that this post claims to apply to every religion, which it doesn’t, it very specifically applies to Christianity and maybe a few more. Saying this applies to every religion is ignorant of almost all religions.

And? It’s very apparent the meme is commenting on the problematic ones— especially the Abrahamic myths. Many, MANY of them are inherently problematic.

How is that apparent???

That’s not an answer, explain to me how that is apparent??? Also how many abrahamic religions can you list because I can list like 6 and I’m not confident that that’s actually all of them and of those six I am only confident that I at all understand the beliefs of two and I know for sure that at least one of them (Druze) was made because the founders weren’t happy with the level of general sexism so also how does this apply to all abrahamic religions????

It absolutely is an answer. It not being one you like doesn’t negate it. And the core texts are inherently discriminatory and full of contradictions. That’s just how it is.
