I can’t even express how disrespectful it is to tell a property to host a specific event without knowing our budget. Suggesting is one thing, but badgering us and calling us oppressive for not doing it is disgraceful & naive. Get a fucking life (and job)

I can understand the confusion. I work in housing and istg this girl has issues with everything and everyone. She emails us all the time about her personal problems that don’t relate to work, often bringing up politics. Recently she emailed us about how we should host a specific event for a minority. I understand the sentiment, but holy fuck the cognitive dissonance is unreal. 1) we’re not allowed to engage in politics at work

2) if we did an event for a minority, many residents would be excluded and 3) its unrealistic that our corporate office would put room in the budget for that with the other events that have already been budgeted in for the year. It’s crazy because she said “given the number of people in (said minority) that live here” when the numbers are actually overwhelmingly against that statement

Some people don’t understand that ‘being inclusive’ can draw negative attention and emotion from residents who have just as much of a right to an event we’re hosting but aren’t able to come, which also puts the minority in the hot seat because they’re getting special treatment from us which makes resident’s jealous

It’s a headache to explain to the person asking for this, especially when they’ve already told us staff members that we’re ageist (we have workers from 19-50 that work there) and racist (half our desk staff is the same ethnicity as this person)
