sometimes it's hard to be happy about the representation we do have bc so much of it is highly stereotyped plus a lot of our representation is only confirmed outside of the actual show by its creators so yeah definitely dire

also one of the two characters counted was Viktor from Arcane, who was confirmed aroace in a word of god interview and not the actual show

real i dream of the day we have 100 ace or aro characters in a single year of television. when we only get one or two so many expectations ride on those few characters, everybody wants them to be every kind of aspec at once, when we have such a diverse community that can’t be represented by so few. also the public at large knows nothing abt what aces and aros actually look like and what we deal with in our lives, its a massive educational opportunity we’re missing.

increased visibility means more people who can discover that they are ace or aro, more people who don’t feel obligated to live a kind of life they don’t want to live, more people who have the community consciousness to know they don’t have to put up with the mistreatment we get from family and partners for being who we are. and it’s so important, but we are such a small little piece of the lgbt pie that we are gonna need the support of the entire queer community to get there!!!
