The ‘desistance’ rates also went up because they counted anyone who stopped showing up (moved away or changed providers, as well) as ‘desisting’.

didn’t have enough space to mention this, but the government’s current standard for trans healthcare is linked above. it also has good info in general and some cited, RECENT studies. also, the heart disease thing is used to say transitioning is bad, but it literally just somewhat aligns you with cis men in terms of risk.

also, there’s misinfo on minors receiving GAC. they do (or did) go on hormones and, in less than a dozen cases, had surgery (top for the most part iirc). these cases, especially the surgeries, were all decided on after extensive use of other treatments, none of which worked. depression caused by dysphoria is often treatment resistant. mine definitely was. a team of doctors decides to put a minor on hormones/surgeries only when other treatments fail and when there’s a high risk of suicide.

for minors, their care is fundamentally different from adults because minors only receive medical care under extreme circumstances. thus, we treat care for minors like antidepressants. the current administration endeavors to take away the only barrier between these trans children and death. this is what we fight against. we protect our young.
