Do some chatting, get some info about them. If it's seems fake, it probably is. If they seem to chat naturally about their lives, they're probably fine. Definitely get one or more recent face pics.

so not a man and never used grindr but I did a lot of random hookups my freshman year from people I met off of fetlife (so arguably worse than grinder lol) and it's definitely scary! and I really took way more risks then I should have but I was very depressed lol. but you can do it responsibly by texting beforehand and ensuring you're on the same page for what you want to happen. first meeting in a public place, then speak about/reinforce those boundaries and just leave if there's any pushback.
