physical endurance doesn’t equate to ability to serve in office and to suggest it does is outright ableist I hate to say it. even smth as “common” as asthma can make it impossible for someone to do this, even in a chair

Senator Tammy Duckworth lost both of her legs while serving her country. She uses a wheelchair. By this standard she wouldn’t be able to be a senator.

I do agree that something needs to be done about all the old people in government positions who very clearly do not have the capacity to do their jobs anymore. But this solution isn’t the right one.

I think this is OP’s point though. Legislators are regulating things like health and ability in ways that make them look like enormous hypocrites
