There are gay people out there who voted for Trump. In essence, yes, there really are gay people who don’t give a gaf if marriage equality gets revoked. There are also ‘social justice warriors’ online who will say just about anything without thinking. The post never came across to me as satire. Because it easily could’ve been a keyboard warrior or just an actually stupid gay person who doesn’t care if other gay people lose their rights.

When there’s no tone indicators or context, like in media, there is no possible way to determine whether something is satire or real. And one can hide behind this Schrödinger’s post of sorts. It was either a joke or real, depending on how you interpreted it. The existence of neurodivergent people on the internet is just another reason why this issue exists.

Because there’s a lot more people in this community who actually think like that. The ‘keyboard warrior’ type. And also, if it was a joke, there was no punchline nor comedy. There was no way for any random person to understand that it was a joke. When I saw it, I assumed it was real because people legitimately think like that on this app.
