As a queer trans person I don’t really like saying slurs I know I can reclaim but if I may. The trans slur is SO lazy and boring why couldn’t it be something fun 😭 at least be creative in your hatred…

REAL tbh I wish it was more fun because my partner and I do like to call each other slurs for fun (totally get why you don’t though everybody’s comfort is different) but like the t slur is so laaaazy

Reclaiming the t slur as a rollerskater who skates in halfpipes and has a car

It’s not even like I’m firmly against saying them I’m just not really in a lot of situations where it fits the vibe or feel the need to 😂 I do wonder if there’s an alternative trans slur that I’m not aware of because I’m sure we’ve been called a plethora of things by transphobes throughout the years

It feels like people are so quick to block on here instead of trying to discuss or listen to other perspectives

Yeah I mean I don’t mind it usually, people are free to block as they will yk? You curate your own online experience. But also I think slur reclamation is a complicated issue and I think having a respectful open dialogue about it can be helpful. But again like I’m not gonna hate on them for the block ig. Nobody’s obligated to debate with me. I mostly just get FOMO when I can’t see what other people are saying lmao

Just that they think you shouldn’t be trying to reclaim a slur unless it’s been personally used against you. And I said I think that’s antithetical to the idea of reclamation, because reclamation is a community wide thing and the whole idea is to use these words in a different context to take away the harmful power they have. And then they blocked me.

What an extremely specific thing that may be a reference to something I don’t get

I agree but only using slurs that apply to you I guess, but you don’t have to have it said to you

Yeah my thoughts exactly. If it could apply to you then you’re part of the community it’s been used to harm, therefore you have a right to reclaim it because we’re all working together to take back these words and take power away from homophobes. Again it’s a complicated issue, I’m not saying anyone HAS to reclaim slurs if they don’t want to. But that’s my view on it and that’s my partner and I will playfully use the f slur with each other (much in the same way we might use “bitch”)

Ok just random but when you say the f slur do you say the whole thing? I’m from the northeast and feel like people here say f*g, where I met someone from California and they say everyone there says the full thing, in the same joking fun friendly way

We kind of alternate depending on the mood. Usually the full thing though, it sounds classier💅
