Hi everyone! I wanted some opinions if that’s okay! A new friend of mine is a trans guy and we were talking a lot but i happened to be saying “girlll omg” or “girl that’s insane”. I say the same things to my coworkers (who are all men). I never think—

anything of it since i say girl so often. i got to thinking after we hung out tho, could that have maybe made them feel dysphoric? i remember recounting a conversation with my bf to them and how i was using “girl” with my bf too but idk. I would hate to make anyone feel bad :((

I mean why change how you talk if you have no bad intentions, wouldn’t it be transphobic to give him a different treatment?

if a trans man gets dysphoric when called a girl then he’s fully in his right to tell you to stop, he doesn’t have to “get over it.” same for trans women, or non-binary people in general.

did they tell you that they felt bad about it? you could also just preemptively apologize and say that you didn’t mean anything by it and realized later that it might’ve made them feel bad
