Wet food is better than dry food, try and look for good brands that have balanced nutrition. Litter box, scoop it every single day, if you want a robot one make sure you get one that’s TESTED for safety. Do not let your cat be an outdoor cat

if you can get them to eat wet food that’s great but if they only want dry food, monitor their water intake as cats are naturally dehydrated animals. litter box, make sure it’s clean. if you’re gonna take them outside, either get them used to a leash or only allow them outside in an enclosed area & supervise them. catios are great for this. microchip the kitty in the event that they somehow escape.

Thank you everyone who gave me advice I’ll also be doing my own research on YouTube and such but I’m nervous AF I have a community cat but he always went home at the end of the day

it is possible to train cats! for example if the cat loves to scratch furniture it is possible to redirect them to a scratching post, it just may take time. if it's a kitten I recommend trying to get them adjusted to things like being held and getting their nails clipped, it'll save you so much grief later on

lots of cat body language can be read from their tail. every cat has their own personality, and it might take weeks before your cat is fully comfortable with you. my cat loves eating tape and will scratch furniture if there’s no scratching post available nearby. he also prefers chicken over fish, and loves string over any other toy. you’ll learn about your cat as time passes but it’s very rewarding
