Ah the constant struggle of “Am I actually aspec, or am I just so profoundly disconnected from/uncomfortable with my body and desire due to dysphoria that I have confused that for a lack of sexual attraction?” Do any other trans people feel this?

this has always been my thing, especially with some bad past experiences. But i've found that if I know someone and they treat me the right way It's a different story

Even if it turns out that’s true and you’re not actually a spec it’s still valid to identify as such right now if that’s what you’re experiencing

YES. I’m nonbinary so I have mild dysphoria but I’m also obese and just generally built wrong so I fully can’t distinguish between being Ace/aro or just hate myself. It sucks

i don’t really think it’s productive to think of sexuality as black and white like “either you are or you aren’t” bc it gets people thinking oh am i actually asexual or is it just caused by xyz when functionally it’s the same thing

Exactly. If you’re not experiencing sexual attraction because of dysphoria atm then that’s still asexual. If this word describes what you’re experiencing then use it, there’s no secret requirements you have to meet.

when i was younger i kept getting hung up on if i was a lesbian or not because i have a lot of sexual trauma and i thought that “made” me not like men. which is probably true! but that doesn’t mean im not allowed to call myself a lesbian.. and OP can call themselves aspec wether or not it’s from dysphoria. and if they change their feelings later than they don’t have to identify that way any more. this is something i wish a lot of younger queer people knew
