It’s a GOOD thing to have intersectional conversations (ei. Discussing issues trans people face and bi people face at the same time) bc people are complex. What’s not good is conflating people with their identity, (ei. ‘Bi people do this to trans people’)

idk how so many people on here seemingly fail to understand that making negative generalizations about a marginalized group of people based on your own negative experience with a member of said group = classic bigotry. in one of its most simple and obvious forms. I feel like that shouldn’t even need explaining

Because, while a bi person you have experience with may have done that to a trans person you know, or vice versa, a major point of the modern community is that we are all individuals.

downvotes proving my point 😭 the willful ignorance is deranged if I thought black men were more likely to be abusers just because I was personally abused by a black man, that would very obviously be hideously racist. I would be operating off of a false and hateful bias that wasn’t actually justified by my experience. same goes for generalizations against other marginalized groups… use your brains, I am begging

Exactly! The LGBTQ+ community as a whole is being harmed rn, we don’t need to be spreading hateful generalizations from the inside.

exactly!!! an example I’ve used to try and explain how incorrect it is to say all lgbtq people are exactly like (insert negative trait here) because they heard one thing on a Fox News article I usually ask are all Germans like hitler? which gets people really defensive and say it’s such an extreme statement to make, but the answer is obviously not and it is an extreme example but it’s supposed to help them realize they are wrong about assumptions!!!

I’ve also noticed that the media sites where these bigots are finding articles that include transgender people or other queer people they only point out negative opinions… the sites like Fox News (BOOOOO🍅🍅🍅) never have anything good to say. once I was being told that there are so many trans NCAA athletes causing problems, so I pulled up data about how many trump felony convictions there are and it was way more than trans athletes but they dgaf andhear what they want and ignore data/facts
