it sucks that so many queer spaces are largely exclusionary of amab nonbinary people, it often feels like just because I look like a man people refuse to acknowledge my gender identity. Anyone have similar experiences?

transfem nb and yeah, I’ve had an annoyingly similar experience 😭 it feels like I have so much more pressure to pass/be androgynous, otherwise my pronouns & non-binary card get taken away socially

I’m afab nb and had a close friend who was amab nb in my main friend group, and the whole time they were in there they would constantly get called he. I think I was one of maybe two people who actually respected their identity and it made me so mad trying to correct people all the time

Yeah as an amab enby I feel like my pronouns just don’t get recognized. People keep using he just because I’m amab but they have no problem using they for our afab enby

They’d all call me a they though so it was weird having that double standard in an entirely queer friend group

LITERALLY

think it’s because a lot of people just view being nonbinary as like female lite instead of it’s own identity

Yeah I’ve definitely noticed that too. I’ve met so few other amab enbies. But is it because they don’t exist or is it just because we expect the default enby to be afab and don’t respect the amab ones

iirc there’s statistically more afab NBs and it’s significant (like twice or three times as many iirc) but we def exist
