The lack of reading comprehension in the replies makes me fear for the state of education. Let’s break down the set up for those struggling: Person A: *complaining about something that is not a real problem* [ie: poor people buying food they don’t approve of] Person B: *points out a REAL problem that Person A (and the larger group of Conservatives they represent) are ACTIVELY IGNORING* The POINT is that people are policing a non-issue while serious issues are covered up. Literacy. Learn it.
True, but I actually don’t like this line because it implies someone buying a bag of candy on snap is comparably immoral to child sex slavery and pedophilia. I know you don’t actually think that but it’s the implication of the statement as it’s structured. But obviously I know what you meant so maybe I’m just being nitpicky
Because these things are definitely similar issues in the same category. You are a moron lmao poor people don’t deserve junk food, sodas, candy. However they do deserve food. Able bodied people who are young and healthy don’t deserve food stamps under any circumstances get a fucking job loser quit bitching and moaning like a child
hey dumbass, most people on SNAP have a job and pay taxes, they just don’t get paid enough to afford to eat too. the rest are too old to work, disabled, or are actual fucking kids who also deserve to eat. also, companies get benefits for hiring employees who are on SNAP. maybe worry about companies like walmart who are triple dipping into your tax dollars.
The majority of “able bodied people who are young and healthy” on SNAP do have jobs. Many that don’t, can’t because they are full-time caregivers for a disabled or elderly relative. If you want to get mad at someone get mad at the corporations like Walmart, who underpay their employees so badly they need SNAP to survive. Get mad at the fact that affordable disability care/elder care/child care is NONEXISTENT in this country leading families to bear the full weight of it with no pay.
